Paracord or 550 paracord, also called parachute cord, is a light nylon cord that what originally used as suspension lines in the USA duraing WW2. It is now used as a utility rope for general use by the military and civilians. The braided sheath is composed of a large number of threads for its size which gives it a relatively smooth appearance. The inner 7 strands of the core can be removed and also used when the need for a thiner cord is felt.

The US paracord for the military answers to the MIL-C-5040H standard. The US military specification defines 6 types of paracord: I, IA, II, IIA, III, IV. Type III is the most commonly used, it has a breaking strength of about 550 pounds, which explains its name : 550 paracord.

Outside its original field of application, the paracord can be used to make braids of any kind: Bracelets, survival bracelets, key rings, knife handles, wrist straps, shoe laces, belts, necklaces, harnesses for animals, etc ... It is an aesthetic cord, resistant, very flexible, pleasant to braid, to tie and to untie.

You will find on internet a number of websites claiming to sell paracord from the USA, when the paracord it offers is actually a pale copy, usually made in China. Be vigilant! Quality goes at a price!

The Paracord we offer is a first-class product manufactured in the United States by a US Army supplier and meeting the current quality standards quoted above for this type of product in the USA.
